Foreman Overview

The Foreman holds the critical responsibility of supervising a shift to ensure the timely and safe completion of assigned projects. This role is designated as ‘safety‑sensitive’ because any failure could pose a threat to the health and safety of employees, their colleagues, and the public.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of a shift engaged in fabricating structural steel.
  • Assist workers in performance of tasks such as welding, fitting, etc.
  • Prepare performance reviews, warning/counseling reports, and termination reports.
  • Prepare timetables and work reports for payroll.
  • Adhere to all company safety programs, QA/QC program, and OSHA regulations.
  • Work overtime and maintain regular, punctual attendance.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a craftsman.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Must possess all required hand tools.
Physical Demands
  • Lift more than 50 pounds frequently; climb more than 300 feet.
  • Pull own weight when climbing stairs, ladders, or scaffolding up to 150 feet.
  • Excessive bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Tolerate temperature fluctuations, a loud and dusty environment, and high voltage electromagnetic fields.
  • Some travel required.
  • Work long hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
