Braswell & Son has been family owned since 1979. We started as one small jewelry store in Little Rock and grew into eight luxury pawn stores across Arkansas and Tennessee. We are still growing, and we promote from within whenever we can.
That’s why this job exists. We need our next Store Managers, and we’d rather build them than borrow them.
Store Manager in Training is a real job with a real paycheck. It’s not an unpaid audition. You’ll be paid hourly from day one, earn commission and bonuses like everyone else on the floor, and follow a structured path to Assistant Store Manager and then Store Manager.
What we mean by “leader”A title doesn’t make you a leader. Plenty of people have been “team lead” for a year and never had to make a hard call. We’re looking for someone who has carried real weight.
You’ve led a team of at least five people for three years or more. It might have been a retail floor, a restaurant, a bank branch, a warehouse crew, a call center, a hotel, or a unit in the military. The industry doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’ve done these things yourself:
- Built a team. You’ve had a say in who got hired, trained them, and kept them.
- Coached someone into being better. Not just told them what to do. You got them there.
- Owned a number and hit it. Sales, service scores, shrink, labor, throughput. Something you answered for every week.
- Had the hard conversation. You’ve written the coaching note, delivered the tough feedback, and kept the record. You know accountability is a form of respect.
- Turned something around. An underperforming shift, a struggling coworker, a department in a rut. You left it better than you found it.
- Made the call with no one to ask. The boss was off, something went sideways, and you handled it.
- You want to manage people but haven’t had to hold them accountable yet.
- You’d rather be liked than respected.
- You need a fixed Monday-through-Friday schedule.
- You want to stay in the office. Our leaders lead from the floor.
- Excellence: You set the standard and you model it first.
- Passion: You care about the work, the customer, and the people on your team.
- Integrity: You do the right thing when no one’s watching, especially with cash, inventory, and loans.
- Initiative: You see the problem and fix it before someone has to ask.
- Community: You show up for your team and for the neighborhoods we serve.
Luxury pawn is a genuinely interesting business, and most people have never seen the inside of it. You’ll learn to:
- Test gold, grade diamonds, authenticate designer handbags, and spot a real Rolex from a good fake.
- Write quality pawn loans and make smart forfeit decisions that protect the store’s profit.
- Coach selling behaviors on the floor and pawn process in the back room.
- Read a daily report and a monthly P&L, and know what actually moves them.
- Build a schedule that balances coverage, payroll, and room for people to grow.
- Run opening, closing, cash handling, and store security as a key carrier.
- Plan store events and show up for our community.
You do not need pawn or jewelry experience. We’ll teach you all of it.
What you’ll actually doThis isn’t a shadowing program. You’ll be on the floor with customers from week one, carrying goals, and taking on leadership as you’re ready. You’ll help coach the team, run shifts, and own results. By the end, you should be able to run the store on a day the Store Manager isn’t there.
