Job Description

The FSQA Technician II performs all duties of a FSQA Technician I involving quality control checks on materials and products during the production cycle to ensure items meet quality standard and safety regulations. The FSQA Technician II will have the additional responsibility to perform the duties of the FSQA Lead in their absence, or as deemed necessary by the FSQA Supervisor or Manager.

Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and work in a fast‑paced warm environment. The FSQA Technician II reports to the FSQA Supervisor.

Job Duties
  • Follow all Westrock policies & procedures, including the requirements of the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are followed by all personnel.
  • Perform in‑line inspections on work‑in‑progress (WIP) and finished products to ensure compliance to defined specifications, including color, % moisture, density, grind analysis, weights, packaging date codes, packaging integrity, brewing performance and others as defined.
  • Perform inspections throughout the process to evaluate work performed by production associates and ensure compliance to quality standards.
  • Complete in‑line Supersack release/approvals.
  • Inspect raw materials or components involved in the production process for suitable quality.
  • Accurately enter test results into a quality database.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming goods when required.
  • Conduct relevant testing of products on hold when required.
  • Perform general daily housekeeping in work area to maintain a clean & safe GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliant working environment.
  • Provide technical training and onboarding to new FSQA Technician I’s as needed.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed and performing other duties as requested by management.
  • Serve as back‑up to Lead Technician as required.
  • FSQA Lead Job Functions
    • Conduct confirmation testing of Supersacks – particle & color analysis.
    • Confirm final pallet counts from each line at the end of shift.
    • Lead sensory evaluations.
    • Collect any 3rd party or retain samples as required.
    • Complete all equipment calibration and verification activities.
    • Complete Return Product evaluations as required.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • 2 years QA related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in quality inspection, auditing, testing, data collection, management and analysis, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal education is preferred in a science discipline.
  • Experience with Food Safety manufacturing requirements including GMPs, Pest Control and other pre‑requisite programs.
  • PCQI/HACCP certification preferred.
  • Excellent listening and analytical skills.
  • Competent computer skills.
