Job Summary and Responsibilities

CHI St. Vincent Infirmary is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner - Advanced Heart Failure to join our team!

We're looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to deliver direct, specialized care to our patients with advanced heart failure and/or pulmonary hypertension. This vital role involves utilizing your training to conduct detailed assessments, diagnose, treat, and monitor chronic diseases, order diagnostic tests, and manage medications, all under the direct supervision of an advanced heart failure physician.

The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct care for patients with advanced heart failure and/or pulmonary hypertension to include but not limited to proficiency in mechanical circulatory support devices under the direct supervision of the advanced heart failure physician.

The Opportunity
  • PRN weekend coverage (Saturday and Sunday)
    • 7am - 7pm shift
    • 1 - 2 weekends per month
  • Obtain medical histories when necessary.
  • Perform physical exams (within established protocol).
  • Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines).
  • Order diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines).
  • Provide preventive health screenings and immunizations for adults.
  • Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling.
  • Assure charts are signed off by the doctor within 24 hours and/or according to hospital protocol.
  • Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality.
  • Make follow up calls to check patients progress.
  • Assist doctors with phone coverage and hospital rounds.
  • Work closely with other nurses to assure patient flow is efficient.
  • Consult with doctor regarding patient symptoms to assure proper diagnosis and plan of treatment.
Job Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in nursing and/or equivalent
  • 3‑5 years clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting required.
  • 1‑3 years previous experience as a NP in an acute care setting or equivalent RN experience in ICU or CVICU
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician Associate
  • Acute care certification required
  • Licensed as a RN and APRN
  • BLS required (BLS‑CPR)
  • ACLS required
