Clinic Nurse Manager practices within nursing boundaries established by the Board of Nursing. The Nurse Manager coordinates staffing and develops new staff within their assigned team. Patient flow and the overall patient experience is a responsibility of this role. The Nurse Manager will assist the AVP of Nursing with staff development, nursing programs, employee performance evaluations, time and attendance, and the disciplinary action process.
The Clinic Nurse Manager will act as a liaison between CARTI team members and the AVP of Nursing.
- Document performance of nurses; assist with performance evaluations; counsel nurses on unsatisfactory performance.
- Address personnel and administrative issues; critically problem-solve.
- Investigate patient and employee occurrences; provide follow-up.
- Coordinate staffing for the assigned team; communicate upcoming needs and resources; assign roles; approve time off; monitor attendance.
- Ensure accountability to controlled substances policy and procedures; record keeping; waste disposal; audits; staff compliance.
- Collaborate with QRISK.
- Ensure proper availability of supplies; assist with ordering; monitor inventory; notify AVP of Nursing of needed items.
- Determine work procedures; prepare schedules; expedite workflow; evaluate and counsel team members; discuss performance issues with AVP of Nursing.
- Direct flexing and sharing of staff to support patient volumes.
- Ensure proper utilization of time; approve payroll; monitor overtime.
- Improve productivity and reduce waste by streamlining processes.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluation of new team members.
- Ensure all team members complete assigned training and competencies.
- Assist with orientation and supervision of students rotating through the nursing area.
- Monitor patient flow; improve patient experience.
- Facilitate teaching of new information regarding medical practice, EMR, policies, procedures, and other relevant material to team members.
Clinic Nurse Manager is not assigned patients daily but will provide patient care when needed.
- Provide on-site patient care and services to all patients; coordinate care with physicians and ancillary services.
- Provide patient education based on assessment; reinforce teaching at appropriate intervals.
- Coordinate additional resources and services; including support services and counseling options as indicated.
- Triage telephone calls; resolve patient issues; review problems with physician; take appropriate action.
- Administer and evaluate new and existing programs/protocols; develop and implement new policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient charts/records; document nursing actions and functions.
- Maintain hematology/oncology expertise.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of biotherapy, chemotherapy and infusion therapy drugs and side effects.
- Monitor medical equipment; request repairs/replacements as necessary.
- Maintain nursing areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Assist in training new departmental personnel.
- Prepare Patient Occurrence Report/Variance Reports as needed.
- Participate in Quality Improvement Projects, Process Improvements and other Ad Hoc Projects as assigned.
Requires additional hours outside the normal 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday‑Friday work schedule and travel.
Supervisory ResponsibilityUnder the direct supervision of AVP of Nursing and general supervision of Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, the position is responsible for delivery of nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of patients during office visits and/or treatments, five days a week or as directed. The Clinic Nurse Manager provides leadership and professional development of CARTI’s clinical nursing team members.
Education,Certification, Licensure and Registration
- BSN (preferred) from an accredited College of Nursing.
- BLS and ACLS Certified.
- OCN Certified or within 6 months of hire date.
- Valid and current Arkansas state nursing license.
- Chemotherapy Certification required within 90 days of employment.
- Valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
