Manager, Clinic Nurse (Healthcare) JOB SUMMARY
The Clinic Nurse Manager practices within the professional boundaries established by the Board of Nursing. The Nurse Manager coordinates staffing and development of new staff within their assigned team. Patient flow and the overall patient experience is a responsibility of this role. The Nurse Manager will assist the AVP of Nursing with staff development, nursing programs, employee performance evaluations, time and attendance, and the disciplinary action process.
The Clinic Nurse Manager will act as a liaison between CARTI team members and the AVP of Nursing.
- Document the performance of nurses, including staff development; assist with performance evaluations and counsel nurses on unsatisfactory performance.
- Address personnel and administrative issues and critically problem-solve.
- Investigate patient and employee occurrences/variances and provide follow-up.
- Coordinates staffing for the assigned team as well as communication of upcoming needs and resources through assignment of roles, time off approval and denial based on team needs, and monitoring and reporting of attendance of team.
- Provides accountability and adherence to controlled substances policy and procedures including but not limited to: record keeping, waste disposal, discrepancies, audits, and staff compliance.
- Collaborates with QRISK.
- Ensures proper availability of supplies through communication and assistance with ordering and continuous monitoring of inventory. Inventories medical and office supplies. Notifies AVP of Nursing of needed items.
- Determines work procedures; prepares work schedules, expedites workflow, evaluates, counsels and discusses with AVP of Nursing any performance issues of team members.
- Directs flexing and sharing of staff to support patient volumes.
- Ensures proper utilization of time by team members and approves payroll ensuring staff appropriately clocks in and out while monitoring overtime.
- Improve productivity and reduce waste by streamlining processes.
- Actively involved in hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluation of new team members.
- Ensures all team members have completed assigned training and competencies.
- Assists with the orientation and supervision of students rotating through the nursing area.
- Monitors patient flow and takes an active role in improving patient experience and improvement activities of the organization.
- Facilitates teaching of new information regarding medical practice, EMR, policy and procedure, and any other relevant material to team members.
Clinic Nurse Manager is not assigned patients daily. However, the manager will provide patient care when needed.
- Provide on-site patient care and services to all patients, including coordination of care with physicians, other staff members and ancillary services when needed.
- Provides patient education based on assessment of patient and caregiver needs and reinforces teaching at appropriate intervals.
- Coordinates additional resources and services including available support services and counseling options as indicated.
- Triage telephone calls, resolve patient issues and concerns, review problems with physician and take appropriate action.
- Administers and evaluates new and existing programs/protocols, development and implementation of new policies and procedures.
- Maintains accurate patient charts/records and document nursing actions and functions.
- Always maintains hematology/oncology expertise.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of biotherapy, chemotherapy and infusion therapy drugs and their potential side effects.
- Monitors medical equipment in the nursing area and requests repairs/replacements as necessary.
- Maintain nursing areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Assists in training new departmental personnel.
- Prepares Patient Occurrence Report/Variance Reports as needed.
- Participates in Quality Improvement Projects, Process Improvements and other Ad Hoc Projects as assigned.
This position will require additional hours outside the normal 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday work schedule and travel.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYUnder the direct supervision of the AVP of Nursing and the general supervision of the Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, this position is responsible for the delivery of nursing care including nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of patients during their office visit and/or treatment, five days a week or as directed. The Clinic Nurse Manager is responsible for providing leadership and professional development of CARTI's Clinical nursing team members.
EDUCATION,CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE & REGISTRATION
- BSN (preferred) from an accredited College of Nursing
- BLS and ACLS Certified
- OCN Certified or within 6 months of hire date
- Valid and current Arkansas state nursing license
- Chemotherapy Certification (required within 90 days of employment)
- Valid Arkansas Driver's License
