Summary ofJob Duties
This posting will be used to fill multiple positions. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients. As a professional nurse, the nursing process is utilized in the provision of care. The RN practices within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The RN provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Oncology Float Division (FD).
The Oncology FD nurses have the opportunity to work on all the inpatient oncology units with the possibility of working in the medical and surgical areas should the need arise. The Oncology FD nurses use all their nursing assessment and clinical skills to meet new patients, families, and staff on a daily basis. To prepare the Oncology FD nurses to work in these specialty areas, a variety of courses are offered including Chemotherapy, CAR‑T, Stem Cell Transplantation, and any other specialized courses required.
Clinical orientation focuses on the nurse's needs and strengths as they are partnered with a preceptor to maximize their orientation experience. All Float Division nurses receive a bonus of 25% for regular, worked hours floating to the different areas. The Float pool team is a dynamic group of staff who meet the challenge and flexibility of a new assignment every day.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Associate's degree in Nursing, Diploma RN, or Master's degree in Nursing.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited RN nursing program.
- Current Valid RN License.
- Two (2) years of current RN clinical skills in Oncology and/or Medical/Surgical acute care.
- Must be flexible with work schedule including weekends.
- Must have excellent charge/leadership skills, and basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chemotherapy training, experience in all types of adult stem cell transplants (FACT training), experience in multiple types of CAR‑T therapies and REMS training.
- The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members.
- Collects and documents assessment data.
- Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
- Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach.
- Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes.
- Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
- Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families.
- Acts as a resource/supports others.
- Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
- Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training.
- Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
