Job Duties
The Extra Help Assistant will develop socio-computational models to understand cyber campaigns on social media. Responsibilities include cyber forensics, deep‑web data collection, and developing predictive models of deviant socio‑technical behaviors on video‑based platforms. The role is on‑campus and reports to Dr. Nitin Agarwal, Director of the COSMOS Research Center.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with social media analysis, including hypothesis generation, data collection, cleaning, preprocessing, analysis, and drafting research findings for conferences and scientific venues.
- Write software modules that transition research into usable tools.
- Assist with online information environment analysis.
- Provide inputs for training stakeholders on research and tools.
- Mentor and monitor graduate/undergraduate students working on the project.
- Assist in preparing reports and publications.
- Other tasks as directed.
Required
Education and Experience:
- Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Preferred
Education and Experience:
- Extensive research experience in social media mining, computational modeling of social science theories, and social network analysis.
- Experience in operational research, optimization, information theory, multiplex network analysis, computer programming, and data management.
- Extensive knowledge of computational social science, social network analysis, and group analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of operational research, systems thinking, and complex network analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of online/offline environment analysis and cyber forensics.
- Research experience in game theory, decision making, decomposition optimization, agent‑based modeling, multiplex network analysis, information theory, control theory, feedback analysis, dynamic network analysis, and cyber campaigns on social media.
- Experience with transitioning research into usable tools.
- Computer programming and data management skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
- Strong communication, writing, and public speaking skills.
- Effective organizational skills.
Salary: $20 – $25 per hour
