Cancer Center Jobs Translational Scientist - Leukemia/Lymphoma

The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking an energetic and innovative Translational Scientist in the field of Leukemia/Lymphoma Research to lead a research program. The Translational Scientist will provide scientific leadership for the program, which will be located within a major growing and expanding clinical program at the Cancer Institute. This includes a FACT-accredited transplant service, six full-time clinicians, a robust bone marrow procurement operation, and a cellular therapy program.

Additionally, there is an extensive clinical trials infrastructure and tumor bank supported by the Cancer Institute and multiple endowed chairs.

The Translational Scientist will hold a faculty position in the Department of Internal Medicine and will be provided with ample lab space at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. Successful candidates will have opportunities for leadership roles on the Disease-Oriented Committee, Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee, and Cancer Research Programs. This role offers a chance to develop a nationally recognized translational research program in leukemia and lymphoma.

Candidates must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or above, possess an MD/PhD or comparable degree, and have a documented track record in funded liquid tumor research. The position includes access to substantial resources, including multi-year support packages for clinical and laboratory-based research.

This recruitment is supported by significant institutional backing and a commitment from the state of Arkansas to support the Cancer Institute’s goal of attaining NCI Designation. The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute is Arkansas’s only cancer center with a comprehensive cancer research portfolio, dedicated to improving cancer outcomes for all Arkansans. Its 190+ members conduct research across Cancer Therapeutics, Cancer Biology, and Cancer Prevention & Population Sciences.

The institute receives approximately $20 million annually in extramural cancer research funds, including COBRE grants. It features six shared resource facilities and has recently hired 23 laboratory-based cancer researchers. The institute also leads four NIH-funded Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs).
