This position plays a key role in training the next generation of riggers and ensuring they meet the required safety standards and operational competencies for working in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Job SummaryThe
Bilingual Rigger Instructor
will be responsible for providing hands‑on and theoretical training in rigging techniques, safety protocols, and equipment handling. You will lead training sessions for riggers, steel fabricators, and construction workers, ensuring they are proficient in load handling, lifting, and securing materials safely, and comply with industry standards and regulations. Extensive travel is required for this role.
- Training Delivery:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on rigging principles, practices, and safety standards.
- Conduct hands‑on, classroom, and field training sessions for new and experienced riggers.
- Use industry‑standard equipment and technology to demonstrate rigging techniques, load assessments, and hazard mitigation.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all rigging operations comply with OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and other relevant safety codes.
- Monitor students during training to enforce proper safety protocols and provide corrective actions as needed.
- Assessment & Certification:
- Assess the competence of trainees through practical demonstrations, written tests, and field evaluations.
- Prepare trainees for certification exams (e.g., NCCCO Rigger Certification or similar).
- Maintain records of training, certification, and performance evaluations.
- Stay updated with the latest rigging techniques, industry trends, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors and management to review training content and make recommendations for improvements.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced riggers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Help trainees develop problem‑solving skills for handling complex rigging challenges.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, certifications, and safety compliance.
- Generate reports on trainee progress, incidents, and safety issues for management review.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as a rigger or in a similar role within the construction or steel fabrication industry.
- Proven experience in training, teaching, or mentoring in a construction or industrial setting.
- Proven experience with overhead cranes
- Certifications:
- NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) Rigger Level I & II Certification (required).
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred).
- Additional certifications in safety, crane operations, or related fields are a plus.
- Accredited as an NCCCO Practical Examiner
- Overhead crane certification
- Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of rigging equipment, techniques, and safety standards.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Ability to assess and evaluate trainee performance effectively.
