Component Engineer Role

Within this role as a Component Engineer
, you will be responsible for performing any of the following tasks:

  • Participate in Electrical / Electronic / Electromechanical / Electrooptical (EEEE) Parts Engineering technical assignments related to hardware design, manufacture and test.
  • Participate in the selection, qualification, test and failure analysis of EEEE Parts.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement/Supply Chain organization.
  • Work on electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, integrated circuits (ICs), hybrids, crystals, crystal oscillators, filters, fuses, heaters, magnetics, microcircuits, relays, semiconductors, thermistors.
  • Travel and work closely with suppliers and government agencies to ensure electronic component selections meet both quality expectations and product performance requirements.
  • Work is expected to be 100% On site.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's of Science in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Formal education or professional experience in the design, analysis, and/or construction of electrical parts and circuits, semiconductor physics and/or operation of devices such as hybrids, integrated circuits, transistors, diodes and capacitors.
  • Knowledge of design, functionality, manufacturing, materials and processes used in EEEE parts.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications and providing guidance to design and test teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; thus US Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Materials Engineering with emphasis on electrical parts, semiconductor physics or related field of study.
  • Familiarity with technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.).
  • Experience participating in major program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR.
  • Basic understanding of Nuclear effects on EEEE parts and demonstrated ability to work closely with Survivability Engineers in strategic Rad Hard applications.
  • Familiarity with military specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Basic understanding of worst-case analysis (WCA) / EEEE parts derating and end of life requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate current and developing technologies for EEEE parts in complex design packages.
  • Experience or knowledge of failure analysis, destructive physical analysis and/or root cause and corrective action analysis related to EEEE parts.
  • Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.).
  • Experience regarding the full life cycle of integrated circuits (ICs), discrete components, or magnetics (transformers), etc.
  • Experienced in working with suppliers of EEEE components.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
