Job Description:

We are seeking a Research Chemist Technician to join our Advanced Chemistry & Chemical Processing Group. The successful candidate will work on innovative projects involving the development of energetic systems, scale-up processes, and testing of energetic materials. This role requires a strong chemistry background, especially in organic and inorganic synthesis, and the ability to work safely with hazardous materials.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in synthesizing energetic materials and scaling up processes.
  • Characterize novel energetic materials using analytical methods (DSC, TGA, SDT, TAM, Particle Size Analyzer, GC-FID, ARSST, UV-VIS-NIR, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy).
  • Handle hazardous materials following strict safety protocols.
  • Design experiments and test series for safe and effective data collection.
  • Operate and maintain specialized instrumentation and testing equipment.
  • Prepare technical reports, deliver presentations, and track project deliverables.
  • Required Skills:
    • Problem-solving skills in a fast-paced team environment.
    • Hands-on experience with energetic materials.
    • Proficiency in standard laboratory practices.
    • Creative thinking and innovation.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Physical ability to sit for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and work with computers.
    Preferred

    Skills:
    • Knowledge of explosive effects and chemistry.
    • Experience with additive manufacturing, energetic or hazardous material synthesis, or laboratory scale-up.
    • Knowledge of chemistry or chemical engineering.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • AS, BS, or MS in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
    • Ability to obtain security clearance and CO State Blasters Permit.
