The Physician Assistant (PA) Lead is responsible for supporting and guiding a team of Advanced Practice Providers (e.g. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants) within a clinical practice area. This includes providing expert clinical care, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to meet patient and family needs, and ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and practice standards. The PA Lead offers leadership in team development, performance oversight, scheduling, and onboarding.
This role also serves as a liaison between the APP team, operational leaders, and clinical partners to support unit‑ or department‑specific initiatives, education, and process improvement.
In addition to lead responsibilities, the PA Lead continues to function in the full clinical scope of a Physician Assistant as outlined in the standard PA job description.
One Advanced Practice Provider will be selected for this position; both qualified NNPs and PA candidates will be considered for one (1) APP opening.

- Eligibility Incentives This position is eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $30,000 for qualified external applicants. Relocation assistance available if relocating from 100 miles or greater.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads team members in providing direct patient care, demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and modeling professionalism and adherence to care standards in daily practice.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient and family needs, participating in rounds and team discussions to promote safe, high‑quality, and patient‑centered care.
- Provides oversight of provider schedules and assignments, ensuring appropriate coverage and coordination of care across the unit or clinical area.
- Monitors the use of staffing resources, making real‑time adjustments to meet patient care demands and support unit goals.
- Identifies and resolves operational or clinical concerns, facilitating inclusive decision‑making and addressing underlying issues that impact care delivery.
- Maintains awareness of unit‑ and department‑specific policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with current evidence‑based practice and applicable clinical standards.
- Interprets and communicates regulatory standards and hospital policies to team members and ensures consistent compliance with quality, safety, and operational protocols.
- Provides mentorship and feedback to team members, supporting professional development and guiding project work aimed at advancing clinical practice.
- Supports team members in achieving clinical, performance, and professional development goals, helping to identify areas for improvement and guiding growth.
- Partners closely with the site medical directors to facilitate collaboration agreements and in providing performance feedback for Physician Assistant team members.
- Promotes clinical practice excellence by collaborating with the practice site team on educational efforts, skill development, and the integration of clinical best practices.
- Advises upline leadership on people‑related decisions, including hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degrees
- Bachelor’s Degree & Master of Physician Assistant studies (MPA) or Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies (MS‑PA)
- Experience
- Three (3) years’ experience as a Physician Assistant
- Licenses & Certifications
- Colorado Physician’s Assistant License (PA);
Prescriptive Authority License - Board Certification as a PA
- BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required only if working at a Children’s Hospital Colorado facility.
