Duties May Include:
- Provide requirements, direction, and service desk support to GIS coordinators, specialists, and support staff working on Enterprise GIS databases or web mapping services
- Develop and deploy scripts using Python, Power Shell, and other technologies to make geospatial processes more efficient and support stakeholder needs
- Monitor and mitigate security vulnerabilities with portal, AWS cloud infrastructure, and all geospatial systems
- Establish and maintain spatial database design, business rules, and workflows that integrate with established tabular reporting business systems such as TAAMS
- Manage and maintain Enterprise servers, databases, and services including Microsoft operating systems, SQL Server, Access, and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
- Administer geospatial data per established federal standards including National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) and Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) requirements
- Document user guidance, technical procedures, and service levels for existing and developed server architecture, geodatabases, enterprise GIS services, and related systems
- Plan and perform operational administration of a secure central Geospatial Data Repository and delivery service for management and distribution of Federally Recognized Tribal trust land data
- Support BIA's mission by advancing enterprise GIS with respect to developing standards, integration, and interoperability
- Oversee data publication and metadata management to meet current DOI and FGDC standards coordinated with privacy and open data requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, or related field
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Enterprise GIS administration and geospatial database management
- Expert knowledge of ESRI Enterprise GIS architecture including ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Enterprise
- Advanced proficiency in database administration including SQL Server, Postgre
SQL/PostGIS, and enterprise geodatabase management - Strong scripting skills in Python, Power Shell, and JavaScript for automation and process improvement
- Experience with cloud infrastructure administration, particularly AWS services
- Knowledge of Microsoft server environments including Windows Server, Active Directory, and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
- Understanding of federal geospatial data standards including NSDI, FGDC, and DOI metadata requirements
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices and vulnerability management for geospatial systems
- Ability to pass background check with no DWI convictions within last 10 years and no crimes against children
- U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in GIS, Computer Science, or related field
- GISP (GIS Professional) certification
- ESRI Enterprise Administration Associate or Professional certification
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent cloud certification
- Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator Associate or similar Microsoft certifications - Experience with federal government GIS systems and tribal land management systems
- Knowledge of Trust Asset and Accounting Management System (TAAMS) or similar land management databases
- Experience with Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and Bureau of Land Management cadastral data
- Familiarity with tribal government operations and natural resource management
- Project management experience and PMP certification
- Experience with Dev Ops practices and CI/CD pipelines for GIS applications
