Position Summary

The Panel Fabrication Technician is a crucial, hands‑on role responsible for the precise assembly, wiring, and testing of custom electrical control panels used in Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects. Working from Setpoint Systems’ Littleton, CO facility, this individual ensures that all control panels are built accurately, safely, and efficiently according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and industry codes, specifically UL 508A.

Key Responsibilities And Duties
  • Interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams to determine component placement and wiring paths.
  • Install and mechanically mount PLCs, relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, power supplies, VFDs, and HMIs into enclosures and sub‑panels.
  • Execute complex point‑to‑point electrical wiring, ensuring proper wire gauge, color coding, neat routing, and secure terminal connections.
  • Fabricate enclosures using hand tools, power tools, and light fabrication equipment to cut, modify, and prepare mounts as required by design.
  • Perform continuity checks, wiring verification, and power‑up testing to verify panel functionality and compliance with drawings and the Bill of Materials.
  • Complete build documentation, maintain organized material records, and communicate inventory needs or discrepancies to the Panel Shop Lead.
  • Adhere to company safety protocols and maintain compliance with UL 508A and applicable electrical codes (NFPA 70/NEC).
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification, vocational training, or an Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of documented experience building, wiring, or assembling industrial electrical control panels or complex assemblies.
  • Proficient reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics, mechanical layout drawings, and Bills of Materials.
  • Expert use of electrical and mechanical hand tools (crimpers, wire strippers, torque wrenches, multimeters) and common panel‑fabrication power tools.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality, neat, and standardized workmanship.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move components up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity required for component wiring and assembly.
  • Work primarily in a well‑lit, climate‑controlled panel shop with moderate noise from fabrication equipment.
