Essential Duties- Provides the monitoring of all of the district’s surveillance security cameras.
- Monitors and interacts with the district's unified security, communication, mass notification, and all hazard monitoring/alert systems. Responds to and/or dispatches appropriate responders to events and incidents detected throughout the school.
- Performs mobile and foot patrols of district property interior/exterior to team standards; communicates via mobile radio or cell phone about security instructions and district emergency planning procedures; responds to incidents as a 1st responder and assists other 1st responders in emergencies; responds to emergencies and assists other responders in a professional manner.
- Interacts with staff, students and the public in a professional manner, including de-escalation of difficult situations; logs incident reports, building access/security and other assigned reports to standards.
- Provides light maintenance and service checks on card readers, change batteries, motion detectors, security cameras and other assigned equipment as directed by the Assistant Director of Security.
- Conducts and documents at least one camera audit per day; logs information in the appropriate Google sheet and emails the District Security staff as needed to complete a repair.
- Conducts daily building audits with the Ready Op form; reports serious damage immediately to the direct Supervisor and the local School Liaison.
- Conducts regular patrols of the school campus to deter and detect suspicious activities or safety hazards.
- Responds promptly to security incidents or emergencies on campus, including fights, disturbances, medical emergencies or criminal activity in conjunction with the School Resource Officer.
- Enforces school rules and regulations, including dress code policies, visitor procedures and behavioral expectations.
- Investigates incidents of misconduct, vandalism, theft, or other violations of school policies or procedures.
- Collaborates with the School Resource Officer and/or Law Enforcement staff when necessary including reporting incidents.
- Assists with the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures, including drills and exercises.
- Collaborates with school administrators, counselors and other staff to address security concerns and implement proactive measures to enhance campus security.
- Ensures safety equipment such as locks, alarms and communication devices are maintained and functioning effectively.
- Be visible and approachable to students and staff to promote security and trust within the school community.
- Consistent Schedules: Efforts will be made to maintain consistent employee schedules; however, due to the limited number of school-based District Security Officers, occasional schedule adjustments may be necessary.

Shifts:
Officers are expected to work between 7:00am – 7:00pm, with flexibility across time frames. - Schedule Changes: Schedules may change due to factors such as staff illness, training, vacations, or management decisions.
- Overtime Considerations: Schedule changes may aim to minimize overtime; flexibility is required.
- Continuous Operations: Coverage for each shift is required, including holidays, to ensure safety.
- Cross Training: Cross-training at a variety of schools to ensure balanced workload.
- Must have a high school degree or equivalent. Some criminal justice or human services college-level coursework desirable but not required.
- Must obtain CPI certification within six months of employment.
- Required to maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification during employment in this position.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Required to have 6-8 hours annual training.
At least 3 years of experience in security system monitoring and physical security is preferred.
