Position Summary

The Senior Facilities Technician is a highly skilled, hands‑on technical role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving facility systems and infrastructure. This position serves as a senior technical resource within the facilities team, handling complex maintenance issues, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and coordinating facility‑related work with internal stakeholders and external contractors. The role will support implementation of facility‑related Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) improvements, provide technical leadership, ensure facility safety and compliance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Functions
  • Perform advanced maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, UPS systems, generators, and chillers.
  • Execute and support preventive maintenance (PM) programs, ensuring schedules, records, and documentation are maintained accurately.
  • Respond to urgent and emergency facility issues to minimize downtime and ensure employee safety; on‑call support for the second shift in rare instances is required.
  • Perform multi‑trade work such as carpentry, painting, equipment repair, and general building maintenance.
  • Receive, prioritize, and complete facility work requests as needed.
  • Coordinate and work closely with outside contractors and service providers on maintenance, repairs, and projects.
  • Monitor contractor work for quality, safety, and adherence to scope and safety requirements.
  • Assist in resolving contractor‑related issues and field changes.
  • Support execution of service contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Support and implement facility‑related projects including renovations, equipment installations, space modifications, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support during project execution.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and estimating facility improvement work.
  • Implement facility‑related EHS improvements and support EHS initiatives.
  • Collect, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
  • Coordinate office and furniture moves, wall‑mounted equipment, whiteboards, painting, and general facility modifications.
  • Maintain facility tool rooms and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Order supplies, materials, equipment, and services required for facility operations.
  • Perform any other duties as required.
Education, Training, and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 7–10+ years of hands‑on facilities or maintenance experience, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, or regulated environment.
  • Technical certifications or vocational training (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building maintenance) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing building systems and equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools common to multiple trades.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical and Environmental Considerations
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on elevated platforms, and access confined or tight spaces.
  • Frequent use of hand and power tools requiring fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring visual acuity, depth perception, and color differentiation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and varying temperatures may occur.
  • May be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, and protective footwear.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous materials and waste in compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
