Job SummaryManages the daily operations of the bakery department, increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans, supervises, trains, and develops team members, and supports an inclusive environment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)- Department Overall Satisfaction % – gauges customer experience in assortment, cleanliness, freshness, staff friendliness, and stock availability.
- Sales to Purchase % – ensures profitability by accurate forecasting and ordering.
- Production Planning Compliance % – positions the department for strong sales by providing accurate information.
SERVICE: 40% – Creates an environment that welcomes customers, maintains merchandising per plan, delivers daily conditions with product availability, freshness, quality, and value. Trains associates in freshness, inventory, and stocking. Fulfills customer requests and special orders.
LEADERSHIP: 19% – Promotes trust and respect, establishes goals for merchandising, sales, and profits, and empowers the team. Manages scheduling, adheres to all laws and company guidelines.
FINANCIAL: 20% – Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks, monitors inventory, reviews product quality, plans production, manages temperature logs, and maintains documentation.
COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 20% – Maintains safety standards, food handling practices, sanitation, regulatory compliance, and executes product recalls. Reinforces safety programs, reports hazards, maintains wage and hour policies, and ensures personal protective equipment use.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Education: High School / GED (required)
- Experience: 3–6 years supervisory experience; 1–5 years direct experience in a bakery or food service setting.
- Languages: English (required);
Spanish (preferred) - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be 18 years old, authorized to work in the U.S., pass drug testing and background check. Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, basic math, operating bakery equipment, cake decorating, basic baking, computer proficiency. Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
Retail–Bakery:
Physical demands include standing, walking, manual dexterity, reaching, carrying loads up to 35 lb, occasional lifting up to 250 lb, and working in indoor/outdoor, cold/heated, wet/humid conditions. Safety risks include slippery floors, sharp objects, loud noise, and exposure to cleaning chemicals. Required equipment includes cleaning supplies, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, and bakery machinery.
Occasional; no overnight travel.
