Job DescriptionThe job of Extended Program Assistant is established to provide support to the after-school program with responsibility for assisting the site coordinator in the instruction, supervision, and training of students and providing clerical support.
Key Responsibilities- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the site coordinator to support and reinforce classroom objectives.
- Assist students with homework assignments, make‑up work, and other tasks to support teachers in the instructional process.
- Communicate with teachers to provide relevant feedback and information on students' progress.
- Implement instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of the site coordinator to present and reinforce learning concepts.
- Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments in basic academic and/or specialized subject areas.
- Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and electronic files and records to ensure availability and safety.
- Monitor students in various settings (classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) to discipline when necessary and provide a safe learning environment.
- Prepare instructional materials and equipment for classroom activities.
- Report observations and incidents related to specific students to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel.
- Support other after‑school personnel in implementing curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Attend meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire and convey job‑related information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
Skills:
Operate standard office equipment, use software applications, prepare and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge:
Basic math, reading manuals, writing documents, presenting information, understanding child development, learning styles, classroom media, and technology.
Abilities:
Schedule activities, gather data, use equipment, work with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, set priorities, work as part of a team, and handle interruptions.
- Experience:
Job-related experience preferred. - Education:
Targeted, job-related education with study in relevant area. - Equivalency:
Combination of education, training, and/or job experience needed to perform essential functions. - Testing:
Pre‑employment proficiency test may be required. - Clearances:
Meet employment requirements and applicable laws and board policy.

Salary Range:
Substitute Salary Schedule $22.14 per hour
FLSA Status:
Non‑Exempt
Physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. 50% sitting, 25% walking, 25% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
