Salary$117,900 – $135,060 per year (range based on experience and qualifications).
Job DescriptionWe have an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in epitaxial growth and semiconductor devices. The role supports work in pulsed power, high‑power microwaves, and power electronics in the Materials Engineering Division, within LLNL's Engineering Directorate. Full‑time on‑site presence is required.
Responsibilities- Conduct research in the development of radio frequency and pulsed power systems.
- Design, build, and test RF devices and components such as transistors, amplifiers, circulators, antennas, nonlinear transmission lines, and oscillators.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and integration experts to meet project goals.
- Publish research in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences, seminars, and technical meetings.
- Advance independent research interests and engage with internal and external scientists.
- Ensure all work follows ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- U.S. DOE Q‑level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Significant experience designing RF devices using CST, HFSS, Comsol, ADS, or Ansys.
- Experience in device characterization, antenna measurements, RF characterization, or microfabrication.
- Programming ability with MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW for data collection and analysis.
- Strong experimental design, measurement, and data acquisition skills.
- Track record of publishing peer‑reviewed literature.
- Initiative, interpersonal skills, and ability to succeed in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This is a post‑doctoral appointment with a 3‑year maximum. Candidates should have received their Ph.D. before hire.
