This role conducts analytical testing of food materials and products (proteins, starches, fibers, oils, micro‑analytes). Responsibilities include routine and advanced physicochemical and functional analyses, instrument operation and maintenance, calibration, documentation, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Execute analytical tests per SOP for proteins, starch, fibers, ash, oils, and micro‑analytes.
- Perform routine and non‑routine physicochemical and functional analyses of food materials and products.
- Analyze data accurately and document results in a timely and precise manner.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instruments (LC, GC, spectrophotometers, pH meters, centrifuges).
- Keep work areas organized and clean, following LDC safety standards.
- Education: Associate’s degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, food science or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Experience: Prior research laboratory experience; 2+ years preferred. Experience with LC/GC chromatography, chemistry and food research analysis.
- Skills: Proficient bench work, data interpretation, spreadsheet and word‑processing software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), strong written and verbal communication, organizational and documentation skills.
- Personal Traits: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, adaptable, detail‑oriented, proactive problem‑solving, and a strong analytical mindset.
- Lab:
Centrifuge, spectrophotometer, LC, GC, pH meters and other analytical instruments. - Typical hours split between pilot plant, office and lab; may involve extended periods of sitting or standing at a computer or counter.
