Clark Wood, specialists in accountancy practice recruitment, are partnering with a leading independent firm of chartered accountants in Liverpool, seeking an Accounts & Audit Senior to join their expanding team.
This well-established firm has a strong regional presence and serves a diverse client base, from SMEs to owner‑managed businesses (OMBs). The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio and gain exposure to clients across multiple industries.
Role OverviewThis role offers a balanced mix of responsibilities, including accounts preparation and tax compliance work, alongside leading audit assignments from planning through to completion. The workload will typically be split between audit and accounts, depending on the schedule.
As an Accounts & Audit Senior, you will be client‑facing, supervising junior staff, supporting their development, and ensuring consistently high standards of work.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and execute audit plans to meet audit objectives
- Participate in audit planning and fraud discussions, identifying risks and strategies
- Oversee all aspects of audit fieldwork and completion
- Ensure all planned audit work meets regulatory and firm standards
- Supervise and mentor junior team members
- Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- ACCA/ACA qualified or Qualified by Experience
- Final‑stage ACCA/ACA students will also be considered
- Recent experience in a mixed audit and accounts role
- Proven experience leading audit assignments
- Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent client communication skills
