Accounts and Payroll Assistant

Adecco is currently recruiting for an Accounts and Payroll Assistant to join a busy finance and administration team based in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented finance professional to play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day financial operations of a well-established organisation.

Type:
Permanent, Full‑Time, with part‑time hours considered for the right candidate

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Location:

Office‑based, Liverpool

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support month‑end financial processes.
  • Process purchase and sales ledger transactions, ensuring invoices are recorded and paid accurately.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and daily banking activities.
  • Support payroll processing, including the collation, checking, and submission of payroll information.
  • Liaise with payroll providers and employees regarding payroll‑related queries.
  • Process staff expense claims and maintain payroll records.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain financial documentation in line with organisational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and relevant legislation.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance department and assist with ad‑hoc finance projects as required.
Person Specification Essential Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Payroll Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role.
  • Practical experience of payroll administration and payroll processes.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial record keeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, proactive, and adaptable approach to work.
Desirable
  • Experience using accounting and payroll software.
  • AAT qualification or working towards a finance-related qualification.
  • Experience working within a charity, not-for-profit, or SME environment.
