The role

Liverpool City Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Auditor to join our Internal Audit Service at an exciting time for the organisation. This is an opportunity to take on a varied and influential role, helping to provide independent assurance across a wide range of council services and contributing to effective governance, risk management and internal control. As Lead Auditor, you will manage and deliver a diverse portfolio of complex audit assignments, investigations and assurance work.

You will scope reviews, develop audit testing strategies, produce clear and balanced reports, and work closely with services to agree practical actions that support improvement and positive change. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of audit plans, progress reporting, audit techniques and the wider continuous improvement of the Internal Audit Service, including the use of technology and data-led audit approaches.

Working with the Lead Audit Manager and Head of Internal Audit, you will play an important role in supporting the Council’s priorities and helping services deliver better outcomes for residents and communities. We are looking for someone who is professionally curious, organised and confident in managing multiple assignments. You will bring strong communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to build constructive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
