Purchase Ledger Clerk

A good Purchase Ledger professional does a lot more than process invoices. You're the person making sure suppliers get paid correctly, queries don't sit unanswered and the numbers going into the finance system are accurate. When something doesn't add up, you're usually the one who spots it and gets it sorted. If you're organised, good with detail and like being part of a finance team where people actually work together, this could be a great next move.

You'll be joining an established team with experienced colleagues around you and supportive management. There's plenty to keep you busy, but you won't be expected to figure everything out on your own. What will you be doing? A big part of the role will be managing a high volume of supplier invoices, making sure they're processed accurately and within the right timescales.

You'll also be:
Matching, checking and coding supplier invoices Responding to supplier queries over the phone and by email Keeping supplier records and account information accurate and up to date Investigating discrepancies and getting them resolved Working closely with finance and operational teams across the business Supporting the wider finance team with general administration when required Helping to keep payment processes running smoothly and on schedule It's a busy role, so being able to stay organised and keep on top of your workload will be important.

If you're someone who likes getting things ticked off, solving problems and knowing everything is where it should be, you'll probably enjoy it. What are they looking for? You'll already have some experience working within finance or accounts, ideally in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position. You'll also need:
Previous Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable experience A good understanding of basic accounting processes Strong attention to detail and a focus on getting things right The ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively Confidence working to deadlines More than anything, they're looking for someone dependable who takes ownership of their work and can become a reliable part of the team.
