We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our team on a permanent, 12-month fixed-term contract. Please note that this is a stable, contracted position and is not a temporary or locum post.
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing a vital link between patients and our clinical team. You will deliver a high-quality, professional, and compassionate reception and administrative service.
Key Responsibilities:- Greeting patients and visitors warmly, dealing with enquiries efficiently and politely.
- Managing the front desk, answering incoming telephone calls, and booking appointments.
- Utilising the EMIS Web system accurately to manage patient records, appointments, and administration.
- Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocols.
- Handling sensitive patient information with the highest level of confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
- Liaising with GPs, nurses, external healthcare professionals, and management to ensure smooth daily operations.
- General administrative duties including scanning, filing, and processing incoming mail or emails.
Experience:
- Experience:
Minimum of 12 months of experience working directly within a UK GP Practice (essential). - Software:
Proven, hands‑on experience using EMIS Web (essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy environment.
- Attributes:
Strong organisational skills, reliability, and a professional, empathetic approach to patient care.
- Hourly Rate: £12.71 per hour.
- Contract Security: A stable, permanent 12-month fixed-term contract (non-locum).
