Controls Assurance Lead (Financial Services)
Location: Liverpool / Hybrid
Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, flexible start and finish times
Contract: 12-month FTC
Salary: Up to £75,000 (Depending on experience)
The OpportunityThis is a hands-on interim role focused on capturing how a financial services organisation's controls and assurance processes actually operate in practice.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to extract critical, experience-based knowledge and turn it into clear, structured, audit-ready documentation.
Much of this knowledge currently sits across individuals and teams – your role is to make it consistent, accessible, and sustainable.
What You’ll Be Doing- Engage with senior controls and operations stakeholders to capture undocumented processes and ways of working
- Conduct interviews and walkthroughs across multiple teams to gather real-world operations insights, not theoretical design
- Document end-to-end processes and operating models, control objectives, activities and ownership, evidence requirements for audit and assurance and roles, responsibilities and dependencies
- Create outputs that support operational continuity, audit readiness and regulatory assurance
- Strong background in financial services (preferably wealth management) working in a senior role within front line operations teams or Governance, Risk Management and Compliance
- Experience in the First Line of Defence controls frameworks and assurance activities, including reconciliations, data checks, or operational controls
- Proven ability to document complex processes clearly and accurately
- Strong stakeholder engagement and interviewing skills
