The Opportunity
An established and growing main contractor entering an exciting phase of development is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on a large scale Care & Retirement Project in Liverpool.
This role will suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor who wants more than a reporting role — someone who actively manages projects, drives outcomes, and adds value from start to finish. This is a key position within the commercial team, offering genuine influence over project delivery and the opportunity to grow alongside a dynamic business.
This role suits a confident, hands-on Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being involved on site, engaging with subcontractors, and solving problems.
Responsibilities- Full commercial management of live projects from pre-contract through to final account
- Preparation and management of Cost Value Reports, cashflows, and preliminary costs
- Measurement and take-off of quantities, producing detailed schedules of works
- Procurement of subcontract packages, including tendering, pre-let meetings, and finalising orders
- Commercial management of subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements
- Administration of JCT Design & Build and NEC contracts
- Management of variations, valuations, final accounts, and contractual notice
- Proactive involvement in programme review and delay management alongside the construction team
- Support site teams with subcontractor management and commercial guidance
- Circa 8-10 years' experience working for a Main Contractor
- Strong Design & Build experience using JCT D&B and NEC contracts
- Proven track record of running your own projects
- Experience delivering projects in the £2m-£10m range
- Strong understanding of Bills of Quantities, drawings, and contract documentation
- Confident managing subcontract procurement and commercial performance
- Ability to lead commercially, not simply report
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
