Role PurposeThe Site Manager is a strong team member with a solid understanding of civil engineering works, focussed on health and safety and quality requirements within Galliford Try. The role works with site supervisors to safely and successfully deliver construction works, liaises with client representatives and sub‑contractors, and reports to the regional Project Manager on a daily and weekly basis.
What You’ll Be Doing- Ensure compliance to approved standards and safety procedures.
- Work with site supervisors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Liaise with client representatives and sub‑contractors at the site level.
- Control site records and maintain accurate documentation.
- Approve risk assessments, method statements and manage subcontractor performance.
- Control permits to work and implement safe working practices with a zero‑harm culture.
- Plan and control all site activities on civil engineering and construction projects.
- Deliver works within defined timescales and costs while maintaining high quality.
- Implement Galliford Try business management systems across the site.
- Manage NEC contracts, uphold the Early Warning Notice process and keep senior management informed.
- Produce and update accurate look‑ahead programmes for progress reporting.
- Travel and relocate as required for project sites.
- Experience in construction and knowledge of security standards.
- Security clearance to SC level or above.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
- IT literate – experienced with Office 365 and the Group BMS for site documentation.
- Previous MOD project experience preferred.
- Strong working relationships with clients and civil sub‑contractors, including experience in pre‑construction surveys, site preparation, civil engineering, perimeter fencing, drainage, reinforced concrete, excavation, utilities, and safe digging.
