Full-Time

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the LMG Heritage Services Team as a Technical Photographer/Digital Imaging Specialist.

Reporting to the Digital Heritage and Operations Manager and working closely with Librarians, Curators, and Archivists, you will supervise and maintain the digitisation facilities, deliver a scalable programme of digitisation, implement workflows, and develop associated documentation. You will use various imaging technologies to create digital images of complex, fragile, and unique objects with a whole life-cycle approach. You will play a key role in developing technical standards for digital asset management and creating procedures to support the University’s aim to foster greater awareness and accessibility of collections.

Responsibilities:

  • Devise and deliver a comprehensive and scalable digitisation service, applying best practices in object photography within the library, archive, museum, and gallery sectors.
  • Oversee the digitisation studio and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage specialist equipment, schedule regular maintenance, and recommend updates and improvements.
  • Handle fragile and/or unique materials carefully, ensuring conservation is prioritized during imaging activities.
  • Establish new and streamline existing digitisation workflows across Libraries, Museums, and Galleries, fostering continuous service improvement.
  • Contribute to creating a roadmap for digital asset management to support long-term digital preservation.
