Substantive Trauma & Orthopaedics Consultant Surgeon Foot & Ankle Medical and Dental Job overviewThe person appointed will be based across all three sites and will be a member of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate, joining the existing multidisciplinary trauma team as well as the Foot and Ankle team. Duties will be undertaken in conjunction with consultant colleagues.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will have a special interest in trauma surgery, limb reconstruction and foot and ankle surgery, including diabetic feet. Please see the attached job plan for details. The appointee would be responsible for the clinical care of patients, undertaking ward rounds, operating sessions, and outpatient clinics. It is anticipated that the appointee will work closely in partnership with existing surgeons.
He/she will also be expected to visit other surgical centres of excellence with a view to enhancing his/her level of training and skills. The post-operative care of the patients will be covered by on-call consultant colleagues during out of hours and/or the weekend.

Trauma or Elective Week as part of the established 24 week rolling rota:

On call (Nominated on call days 1:4 weeks Monday to Thursday, and 1:8 weekends.). It is envisaged that the maximum average emergency work per week arising during premium time from on call duties will be 3 hours.
Weekends will alternate between first consultant on call and second consultant on-call.
