Overview

This fellowship will be undertaken under the supervision of Professor Shakil Ahmed, Clinical Director of Colorectal Surgery, within one of the UK's largest and most established robotic colorectal units.

Ideal for post-CCST / post-CCT colorectal surgeons, including international applicants, who wish to consolidate advanced expertise in pelvic oncology, complex colorectal surgery, and robotic-assisted colorectal procedures prior to a consultant appointment.

12‑month post allowing a senior post‑CCST trainee to experience all facets of patient management from diagnostics through to multidisciplinary team discussion, treatment and follow‑up.

Responsibilities
  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Provide comprehensive patient management from diagnostics, treatment to follow‑up.
  • Gain expertise in pelvic oncology, complex colorectal surgery, and robotic‑assisted colorectal procedures.
  • Develop skills in colorectal services including regional exenteration centre, peritoneal peritonectomy service, Specialist Early Rectal Cancer (SERC) with TEMS procedures, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and pelvic floor services.
  • Improve colonoscopy competence within a JAG accredited endoscopy unit.
Qualifications
  • Post‑CCST / post‑CCT colorectal surgeon (international applicants accepted).
  • Strong background in colorectal surgery.
  • Desire to consolidate advanced expertise in pelvic oncology, complex colorectal surgery and robotic‑assisted colorectal procedures.
Training & Development
  • Access to JAG accredited endoscopy training.
