Advanced Robotic/Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a full‑time Advanced Robotic Colorectal Fellow for a 12‑month fixed‑term post commencing April 2027.
This fellowship will be undertaken under the supervision of Professor Shakil Ahmed, Clinical Director of Colorectal Surgery, within one of the UK’s largest and most established robotic colorectal units.
OverviewThe post is ideal for post‑CCST / post‑CCT colorectal surgeons, including international applicants, who wish to consolidate advanced expertise in pelvic oncology, complex colorectal surgery, and robotic‑assisted procedures prior to taking up a consultant appointment.
Responsibilities- Develop advanced expertise in pelvic oncology, complex colorectal surgery, and robotic‑assisted colorectal procedures.
- Experience all facets of patient management from diagnostics, through the multidisciplinary team (MDT) process, to treatment and follow‑up.
- Participate in the unit’s specialist services, including regional exenteration, peritoneal peritonectomy, Specialist Early Rectal Cancer (SERC) and TEMS procedures.
- Gain expertise in IBD, pelvic floor, and TEMS services.
- Achieve proficiency in colonoscopy, as opportunities arise within the JAG‑accredited endoscopy unit.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary teamwork and, where appropriate, to research and audit.
- Post‑CCST / post‑CCT colorectal surgeon.
- Strong clinical background in colorectal surgery with a demonstrated interest in robotics.
