Consultant in Clinical Oncology
- Head and Neck and Sarcoma

This post presents a unique and exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to drive an exciting, expanding cancer service in the Head and Neck and Sarcoma team. This post supports major strategic investment by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust (CCC) to expand and develop team provision and research focused work across respective SRG's for patient benefit.

The Head and Neck and Sarcoma oncology team are based in the brand new, state-of-the-art CCC-L building. Head and Neck clinics operate at 4 sites across the region including Liverpool (Central), Aintree (North), Arrowe Park and Countess of Chester. Sarcoma clinics will be held in the central main site CCCL. The post holder will support some consultations being held remotely.

This post is a locum part-time (9PA) post.

Main duties of the job

The post has the following broad remits:

To contribute to the overall leadership of the Head and Neck and Sarcoma service and to the delivery of the service.
To contribute to and support the wider research programme for the in Liverpool.
To participate in the educational programmes for trainees

In addition to the site specific teams there is a broad range of teams in place to support all CCC patients through their cancer journey including Inpatient and Outpatient Matrons, Specialist Oncology nurses (clinical and research), Specialist Palliative Care Team, Enhanced Supportive Care Team, Social Worker, Cancer Psychology Services, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Cytotoxic Pharmacy, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapist.

Good communication skills, the ability to work as a team member, and offer a high standard of clinical opinion are essential requirements. Participation in the Trust consultant appraisal system and Royal College of Radiologists CPD programme are expected. Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register of the GMC before taking up the Consultant appointment or within six months of their CCT on the interview date.

GMC Licence to Practice
FRCR (or equivalent)
Relevant certificate of training in communication

Experience of specialist training in the management of Head and Neck and Sarcoma malignancies
Experience of managing patients on clinical trials
