The Consultant will provide senior clinical leadership in neonatal low dependency care, transitional care and neonatal outreach services. The post holder will optimise patient flow, support early discharge, improve continuity of care for babies and families and undertake departmental safeguarding responsibilities.
Fixed clinical sessions providing neonatal low dependency care and Transitional Care at Liverpool Women's Hospital and contributing to the neonatal follow-up service. The neonatal community outreach team is established but there are plans to expand the remit of this service in line with the BAPM Neonatal Outreach Service Framework. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be key in outlining and overseeing the arrangements for this service.
Dependent on experience, the post holder may be expected to undertake some sessions within the intensive care environment at Liverpool Women's Hospital. The postholder will be expected to undertake antenatal counselling in the fetal medicine unit.
In line with the Trust's Job Planning Policy, all Consultants will be allocated 1.5 core SPA sessions per week. This time will be used for participation in undergraduate and post graduate teaching, continuing professional development, mandatory training, non-patient administration, participating in clinical audit and preparation for annual appraisal and revalidation. The additional 1 SPA will be used for activities in defined roles such as the educational supervision of trainees and lead roles in service development.
