A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students who have faced challenges in mainstream education. As a Behaviour Support Assistant
, you will play a vital role in supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs. You’ll work closely with individuals and small groups, helping them manage their emotions, build resilience, and engage positively with learning.

• Implement trauma-informed practices to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Provide one-to-one and group support to help students manage behaviour and emotions effectively.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster engagement and trust.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to develop and implement personalised support plans.
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to help students overcome daily challenges.
• Encourage and guide students towards achieving both educational and personal goals.
• Monitor progress and adapt support strategies as needed.

• Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed practice and behaviour management.
• A genuine passion for supporting children who have struggled in mainstream education.
• Exceptional empathy, resilience, and patience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build rapport and manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
• A proactive, positive approach to problem-solving and teamwork.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
