Course Lead - Health & Social Care and Science

Hugh Baird College – Main Campus, Bootle

Compensation: £38,700 – £43,250 per year

Work Status: Permanent, Full time – 37 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach students across a range of courses assigned by the line manager, ensuring effective learning outcomes.
  • Implement appropriate feedback and assessment systems, adapting instruction as needed to support learner progress.
  • Lead the staff in the delivery team under the management of the Curriculum Manager.
  • Operate within the College’s Quality Assurance framework.
  • Manage courses or parts of courses, including administration and organisation.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation, development and implementation.
  • Maintain a professional learning environment and implement the College’s behaviour management processes.
  • Provide accurate, timely reports to managers on curriculum performance.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive curriculum knowledge.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in a related area, a PGCE, and experience teaching Health courses at Level 2 and 3 including T-level.
  • Experience leading a team and teaching in a Further Education college across L2 & L3 health and social care qualifications including T-level.
  • Sufficient breadth and/or depth of specialist knowledge to lead the curriculum provision and teach relevant programmes.
  • Recent industry‑related experience relevant to the academic discipline.
  • Detailed knowledge of course content and examination and assessment requirements.
  • Understanding of value added and use of progress performance measures.
  • Experience developing and maintaining external partnerships to enrich teaching and learning.
  • Ability to motivate, support and lead a curriculum team to meet Key Performance Indicators.
