Position: Trainee Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioner (CYWP)

Position Overview

Children and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) offers a training role for a CYP Wellbeing Practitioner within a Children and Young's Mental Health Service (CYMHS). The role involves delivering outcome‑informed, evidence‑based interventions for children and young people with mild‑to‑moderate anxiety, low mood, or behavioural difficulties.

Responsibilities
  • Attend university‑based taught and self‑study days as prescribed by the national curriculum.
  • Work in the service for the remaining days, delivering low‑intensity interventions (including guided self‑help) for anxiety, depression and conduct problems.
  • Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team under supervision to provide high‑quality care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and meet assessment and outcome‑measuring requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Postgraduate level: degree or demonstrable academic equivalence.
  • Graduate level: proof of level‑6 studies and ability to undertake work at this level.
  • Ability to study at university level and attend training sessions approximately one day per week.
  • Expected to be NHS pay band 4 or equivalent.
Training Details
  • Training provided by Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust in partnership with the University of Manchester.
  • Program starts January 2025, with one day of taught study and four days of service‑based experience each week.
