SEN Teaching Assistant
SEN Teaching Assistant required to support pupils within a SEN school. This Teaching Assistant role is full-time ideally but part time hours will be considered.
The ideal candidate for the Teaching Assistant position will have previous experience working with children with Severe Learning Difficulties.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils with Autism and other SEN to access the curriculum and engage in learning
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventions implementing management plans
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning support
- Assist pupils' communication needs using tools such as PECs or other visual aids
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and developmental needs in line with individual education plans (IEPs)
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment in your role as a Teaching Assistant
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NCFE, CACHE, NVQ Level 1, 2 or
3) is desirable - Eligibility to work in the UK
- Recent experience working with children within the last two years
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism and special educational needs
- Excellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
- Previous experience working across KS3, KS4, and KS5 is advantageous
- Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children
- Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
- Training or experience in PECs, TEACCH, or Team Teach is desirable
