Location: North East England
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £27,000 – £32,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week (flexibility required)
Annual Leave: 28 days

About Endless Adventure North East

Established in 2012, Endless Adventure North East is a leading outdoor learning and adventure provider, delivering high-quality, bespoke programmes across the region.

Working in partnership with local authorities, schools and families, we provide alternative provision and outdoor learning opportunities for children and young people aged 5+ with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Our provision is centred around adventure, nurture and personal development, using the outdoors as a powerful tool to build confidence, resilience, wellbeing and positive outcomes.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEMH Support Worker to join our expanding team.

The Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable children and young people in engaging outdoor environments. Working alongside experienced instructors and support staff, you will help deliver bespoke programmes that encourage personal growth, emotional regulation, social development and educational engagement.

You will play a key role in creating safe, inclusive and inspiring learning experiences whilst supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve their individual goals.

This role involves working outdoors in a variety of environments and weather conditions. Flexibility is essential, as occasional early starts, late finishes and travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people with SEMH and SEND needs.
  • Support the delivery of engaging outdoor learning and adventure activities.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where young people can thrive.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Contribute to individual support plans and programme reviews.
  • Support young people to achieve outcomes identified within EHCPs and other support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, local authorities and external professionals.
  • Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of alternative provision programmes.
  • Support activity instructors in delivering adventurous outdoor activities safely and effectively.
  • Monitor and manage risks in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    Maintain accurate records, reports and safeguarding documentation.
Operational Support
  • Assist with programme administration, scheduling and general operational tasks.
  • Support equipment checks, maintenance and record keeping.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of facilities, vehicles and resources.
  • Undertake health and safety checks and report any concerns promptly.
  • Represent Endless Adventure professionally at all times.
Professional Development
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEND, SEMH and safeguarding practices.
  • Attend training, professional development opportunities and industry events.
  • Contribute positively to the ongoing development and growth of the organisation.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people to succeed.

You will be energetic, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine enthusiasm for outdoor learning and adventure. Most importantly, you will share our commitment to helping young people build confidence, develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.

You will be able to remain calm under pressure, think creatively and build meaningful relationships with young people who may present with complex needs.

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant qualification in education, youth work, learner support, SEND or a related field (or currently working towards one).
  • Experience working with children and young people in education, youth work or alternative provision settings.
  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH and/or SEND needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems.
  • Emotional resilience and a solution-focused approach.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Team Teach or equivalent positive behaviour support training.
  • Outdoor activity qualifications (e.g. RCI, Mountain Leader, MTB Leader, IRF…
