We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our LFC Foundation team as a Youth Support Worker Apprentice. In this role you will deliver youth services in a community context that provide life‑changing opportunities in the most deprived areas of Liverpool, helping to raise the self‑esteem, confidence and aspiration of young people.
Although you will be employed directly by the LFC Foundation, you will work with the Foundation’s community organisation partners where you will deliver high‑quality youth programmes to participants. This will take place alongside training to complete your Level‑3 Youth Work Apprenticeship.
What will you be doing?- Work closely with your team to plan and deliver a wide range of activities that young people participate in.
- Be a lead and role model for others.
- Work directly with young people to develop their social education by providing programmes of activities, services and facilities and enable them to be heard, incorporating the learnings from your apprenticeship into all the work you undertake.
- Build relationships with external partners that can lead to effective signposting for young people.
- Conduct detached sessions to engage with young people in our communities.
- Support young people who are ‘at risk’ or vulnerable to child exploitation.
- Assist in the management of programme logistics, including venue‑management, transport, food and accommodation.
- Raise safeguarding concerns with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and follow all policies held by the LFC Foundation and community organisation to ensure safety and non‑discriminatory practice.
- Support the team to capture evaluation data and evidence from programme delivery and effectively contribute to team meetings.
- Manage risk by supporting the team to assess the activity and environment and create risk assessments to ensure the activities are safe for all.
- Support the day‑to‑day administration of your role.
- Experience planning and delivering educational youth sessions.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and young people.
- Understanding of inclusive youth work practices.
- Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in a youth work context.
- Knowledge of mentoring in a youth work context.
- Experience building relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience in signposting young people to further opportunities.
- Commitment to Liverpool FC Foundation’s mission and values.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to evaluate successes and areas for development.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Competency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
This position is offered on a fixed‑term contract and involves working 30 hours per week, 5 days from 7 days with some weekend work required. The role will be based at one of our community partners in Liverpool, however the post holder will also be required to work from other locations across Merseyside from time to time, and be willing to travel within England and Wales.
