AboutThe Role
The Division of Medical Sciences is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Lecturer in Translational Medicine to join our thriving academic team on a fixed term maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a successful portfolio of postgraduate programmes while helping shape innovative educational provision and developing impactful research.
You will play a key role in delivering and developing our successful postgraduate Translational Medicine programmes, which include specialist pathways in Diabetes, Orthopaedics, Respiratory Medicine and Oncology. You will also contribute to undergraduate teaching where appropriate. We are keen for applicants who can teach biostatistics and research methods.
Responsibilities- Deliver engaging teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Design and develop innovative learning and assessment activities.
- Lead and contribute to curriculum development within Translational Medicine.
- Supervise postgraduate research projects and dissertations.
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students.
- Lead postgraduate recruitment and admissions activities.
- Develop independent and collaborative research aligned with the Division's research strategy.
- Build partnerships with NHS organisations and external stakeholders.
- Take on module leadership and contribute to programme leadership where appropriate.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline.
- A first degree in a relevant biomedical or medical science subject.
- Fellowship or membership of the Higher Education Academy, or equivalent professional recognition.
- Expertise in Translational Medicine or a closely related discipline.
- Expertise in Biostatistics and research methods.
- Experience of teaching in higher education.
- Experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
- A developing or established research profile with publications.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.
- The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
Experience of programme leadership, curriculum development and working with NHS partners would be advantageous.
