As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support pupils with autism and learning difficulties both in the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment, enabling pupils to access the curriculum while developing their communication, confidence, and independence.
Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism and learning difficulties.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Support pupils to access the curriculum in line with their individual learning needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive behaviour management strategies.
- Encourage pupils’ communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, therapists, and other professionals to support pupil development.
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils during lessons, break times, educational visits, and other school activities where required.
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar role within an SEN or educational setting.
- Experience supporting children or young people with autism (ASC) and learning difficulties.
- A good understanding of SEN and inclusive classroom practice.
- A calm, patient, and caring approach with excellent communication skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
- A genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce), references, and compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026 and safer recruitment guidelines. Overseas police checks may be required for candidates who have lived or worked abroad.
