Graduate Computer Science Teaching Assistant

Location: Liverpool (L18 postcode area)

Salary: £26,000–£28,000 per annum

Are you a high‑achieving Computer Science graduate looking to begin a rewarding career in education? We are recruiting on behalf of two secondary schools in the L18 area of Liverpool for an ambitious Graduate Computer Science Teaching Assistant with a clear pathway into teacher training.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students in Computer Science and ICT before progressing onto a salaried or unsalaried Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme.

About

The Role
  • Support students in Computer Science and ICT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to assist at Key Stage 5.
  • Work alongside experienced teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group intervention to help students develop their programming, computational thinking and digital literacy skills.
  • Support students with practical coding activities, problem‑solving tasks and coursework where appropriate.
  • Help raise student attainment and confidence across the Computer Science curriculum.
  • Develop the skills and experience needed to progress into teacher training.
Essential Requirements
  • A 2:1 degree or above in Computer Science or a closely related subject (e.g. Software Engineering, Computing, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence or Computer Systems).
  • A Levels or BTEC Level 3 (Pass/C or above).
  • GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Mathematics.
  • Right to Work in the UK.

We are unable to accept equivalent qualifications in place of A Levels/BTEC or GCSEs. Applicants must hold the specified UK qualifications.
