Be the adult who makes the difference.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient Learning Mentor to join our specialist alternative education setting supporting boys with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who believes that strong relationships are at the heart of helping young people succeed. Every day brings new challenges, but also the chance to have a lasting impact on a student's confidence, wellbeing and future.
About the Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with students who may have experienced barriers to education, helping them to re-engage with learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their personal goals.
Your role will include:
* Building positive, trusting relationships with students.
* Providing one-to-one and small group mentoring.
* Supporting students to manage their emotions and behaviour positively.
* Encouraging attendance, engagement and participation in learning.
* Promoting confidence, resilience and independence.
* Working closely with teachers, families and external professionals to support individual needs.
* Celebrating progress and recognising every success, no matter how small.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
* Is patient, calm and emotionally resilient.
* Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Can motivate and inspire young people to achieve their potential.
* Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential).
* Understands the importance of consistency, empathy and positive role modelling.
* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
What We Offer
* A welcoming and highly supportive staff team.
* Ongoing training and professional development.
* Opportunities to develop specialist skills in SEMH and alternative provision.
* A role where your work has a genuine and lasting impact on young people's lives.
* The opportunity to be part of a team that believes every young person can succeed with the right support.
Whether your background is in education, youth work, coaching, care, counselling, psychology or mentoring, if you have the passion, resilience and commitment to help young people thrive, we would love to hear from you.
Every young person deserves someone who believes in them. Join us and help make that difference every day.
