Full-Time, Fixed Term to 31/08/2027. Liverpool John Moores University International Study Centre is recruiting a Business tutor to join the existing teaching team. The successful candidate will teach Business modules to students on university preparation programmes offered by the Centre. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative tutor who can motivate students and deliver high quality teaching while carrying out relevant pastoral functions.
The role involves working with international students, performing, and collaborating with colleagues within the Centre and across the network. The candidate should be committed to providing an interesting and effective blended learning experience for students.
- Teaching and learning, student progress and delivery of lessons: deliver high quality teaching to groups of international students.
- Undertake marking and feedback on formative and summative bases, while complying with quality standards and processes.
- Act as a Module Leader in relevant subject areas, coordinating a team of tutors, updating module handbooks, preparing module assessment analysis and review reports, and creating detailed schemes of work (indicative).
- Deliver schemes of work, set assessments and mark these in a timely manner.
- Teach up to a maximum of 20 hours per week (teaching contact time) across several different modules on the Business pathway.
- Implement enhancement and enrichment activities across the curriculum (inside and outside of the classroom).
- Ensure student punctuality, attendance and appropriate behaviour in class/teaching rooms.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and assessment grades.
- Maintain accurate progression risk tracking and student performance data.
- Strive to achieve the best performance from each student at their level during the course and in final exams and assessments.
- Promote differentiation in the classroom and encourage the creative use of technology-enhanced learning (TEL).
- Ensure the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) meets provider and university standards for the modules taught.
- Contribute to the preparation of mid- and end-of-term reports for students.
- Create and update teaching materials; undertake projects as directed by the Head of Subject; provide cover where necessary.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings and assessment boards, where necessary.
- Keep up to date with developments in academic teaching and skills, including the use of e-learning resources.
- Work collegially with ISC and HEI colleagues; contribute to continuing professional development and lead on relevant CPD sessions.
- Carry out any other duties as required by the Director of Campus and Operations.
- Bachelor's degree in the subject area;
Master’s degree in the subject area. - Relevant teaching qualification.
- Substantial hands-on teaching experience, ideally with international students on university preparation courses up to degree level.
- Experience of developing and updating teaching materials for blended learning and experience of working with a Virtual Learning Environment.
Up to £35,276 per annum.
