SEND Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support for children with complex learning and physical needs, working closely with teachers and other professionals to create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access learning.
  • Supporting pupils with personal care, including toileting and changing where required.
  • Assisting with mobility needs, including wheelchair transfers and hoisting.
  • Delivering sensory and communication-based activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals to support each child's learning and wellbeing.
  • Building positive relationships that encourage confidence, independence and engagement.
Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in care, education or support work who have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

This role would particularly suit:

  • Care Assistants
  • Support Workers
  • Healthcare Assistants
  • Teaching Assistants
  • Anyone with experience supporting children or adults with complex needs who is looking to transition into education
Essential Requirements
  • Experience supporting children or adults with complex learning and/or physical needs.
  • Knowledge of medical needs such as PEG feeding, epilepsy, PICA or similar care requirements.
  • Confidence providing personal care and supporting wheelchair users.
  • A patient, caring and compassionate approach.
  • The ability to follow individual care plans and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Two professional references.
