Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic individual with Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL)?

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) School. This role will involve providing 1:1 support to a pupil, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills and reach their full potential.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs.
  • Use Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication and learning.
  • Support the pupil both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals.
  • Support the pupil’s emotional wellbeing and development.
  • Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) or equivalent.
  • Has experience of working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), or a strong interest in doing so.
  • Is patient, compassionate and resilient.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Is committed to promoting inclusion, independence and positive outcomes for every pupil.
