Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic individual with Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL)?
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) School. This role will involve providing 1:1 support to a pupil, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills and reach their full potential.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs.
- Use Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication and learning.
- Support the pupil both inside and outside the classroom.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals.
- Support the pupil’s emotional wellbeing and development.
- Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) or equivalent.
- Has experience of working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), or a strong interest in doing so.
- Is patient, compassionate and resilient.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Is committed to promoting inclusion, independence and positive outcomes for every pupil.
