The function of the ‘Schools Liaison and Transition Officer’ is to positively promote the College, and the opportunities it offers, drive student recruitment, and provide excellent student customer care. To support young people in their transition from School to Further Educational opportunity through the forging of effective relationships and reducing barriers to participation.
Building upon a wide range of current virtual and in-school activities, the post holder will be part of a team responsible for raising awareness of the ‘City of Liverpool College experience’ amongst prospective students, their parents, schools, and careers staff. It goes without saying that as a key brand ambassador, our Schools Liaison Officer will need to be a true ‘people person’, always professional, with high levels of confidence, effective networking skills and capable of presenting and speaking at events.
Key Responsibilities To establish, maintain and create excellent working relationships with all relevant members of staff in local schools and careers services.To respond to the individual needs of the schools to ensure that the City of Liverpool College is positioned as the college of first choice for potential students.To ensure a smooth transition, school to college, for potential students.To assist with the organisation and delivery of college information and advice events including Open Events and Virtual Open Events.To assist, the team in developing, co-ordinating and promoting subject specific taster activities, masterclasses and skills competitions that raise awareness of courses and apprenticeships.To maintain the College 14-16 prospectus.To work with allied professionals, such social workers, virtual School Heads, to ensure all young people’s needs are met (looked after children, EHCP etc).To design, market and confidently deliver specific college talks and workshops to respond to the needs of schools.To represent the college and coordinate subject staff (where required) at onsite and virtual school parents’ evenings, GCSE options evenings, assemblies, career events and other specific school events, in the day and evening when required.To organise and deliver individual and large group tours at the College for school pupils, school staff and parents.To research and keep up to date with course and career pathways that a potential student may be interested in.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.Ability to work as a member of a closely-knit department, acting as a true team player and making a positive contribution to the team and its ongoing success.Ability to work flexibly, with some early morning, late evening and occasional weekend working expected.Must have access to own vehicle and ability to travel to schools in the region.Knowledge of post 16 education and training optionsExperience working with young people in an advice, support or educational capacityExperience in developing and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholdersKnowledge and understanding of some of the barriers young people face in the education and training sectorAbility to motivate, inspire and raise aspirations of young people when considering post 16 educationUnderstanding of qualifications and entry requirements needed for post 16 educationPlease Note This role may close earlier than the…
