Clifford Holroyde is a maintained special school for 75 boys, aged 11-16 years with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) additional needs and all our students have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Learning Support Assistants (LSA’s) make the education of their students their first concern and are key to the students achieving the highest possible outcomes. You will be a professional with honesty and integrity at the centre of everything you do. With strong commitment to safeguarding students, you will be child‑centred with high aspirations for those you support. If you are hardworking, with a can‑do attitude and a learning mind‑set – you will be an ideal candidate for this most rewarding role.

The main responsibilities for the post are to:

• Support students with their socio‑emotional engagement with learning and promote independence in a safe environment.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
• Promote the inclusion of all students, so that all have equal opportunities to feel included and to contribute to school life.
• Support class teachers to create a supportive and inclusive working environment that makes students feel happy, safe and secure.
• Implement the positive behaviour approaches set out by the school, including reward, graduated responses and Restorative Practice.

A good understanding of behaviour such as communication, attachment theory, SEMH needs in the classroom, and theory underlying nurture provision are ideal for any professional working within our school.
